Antietam Creek Samoyed Club

Activities

Though of Arctic origins, the Samoyed is not "just a sled dog." And although they are certainly beautiful, they are not "just show dogs."

The Samoyed is known as a "jack-of-all-trades" breed. According to the Samoyed Club of America they are "more than just a pretty face."

Samoyeds were originally developed to work for a living, and they still can!

The Antietam Creek Samoyed Club promotes the preservation of the Samoyed breed's varied instincts through participation in many different activities.

Past events include pack hikes, sledding experience days, fun matches, herding instinct tests, obedience classes, agility demonstrations, funsie days, grooming demonstrations, Santa photo shoots and information booths.

Members also enjoy a summer picnic and an annual awards dinner.

Some members of the club are active in conformation and obedience showing and are members of the Samoyed Club of America. Many of them attend the SCA's National Specialty show on a regular basis.

The Antietam Creek Samoyed Club hosted the 2000 National Specialty, located in Frederick, Maryland.
Club members have helped with or served on the host committees of several other National Specialties, including 1996, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2005.
