Web Design Tips
This page will contain useful and practical tips for improving the design of
your site. Examples will be provided in HTML as well as for Microsoft FrontPage.
A significant section will cover the use of JPEG images, and how to optimize
them for fast viewing by your site's visitors.
Watch this growing list of tips and hints:
- Optimizing images for the web
- This can be a complicated subject, but for someone who wants quick results
and doesn't want to worry about all the details involved just try the following:
-
- "Bill's
image optimizer" - this is very simple to use, and will yield excellent
results.
-
- Note: You can improve your picture by cropping it to remove unwanted areas.
This will make a more pleasing picture, as well as reducing the download
times!
- Counters
- A number of you have asked about counters. I do not have any available at
this site, however there are many sites on the Internet that provide them
for free. Some of these sites are:
http://www.ultimatecounter.com
http://www.digits.com
http://www.thecounter.com
If you are using FrontPage you can add a simple counter using menu
"Insert" > "Component" > "Hit Counter"
and choose your counter style.
