More than happy, I'm delighted! Actually just opened it up. As you said, the damage is not as bad as it might have appeared. I'm not going to complain at all. Attached are a couple pics. One is the threesome of the 23, 66, and 88 -- they all will be sitting together on the shelves. The other is the 88 with the wood CD 243 that Mark and Elaine Corriero made for me, um, about 11 years ago for me as a placeholder. I have 10 placeholders -- this is the very first I can replace with the real thing.
Glad you got the check. And many, many thanks for working with me to make this happen. I'm a happy camper, to say the least!

About 5 mins later he sent me a pic of the PG page with the listing. I was pretty blown away. They were the most expensive pieces I had ever run across locally and they were at flea market prices.
When I first moved back to Nova Scotia from Alberta a Local woman approached me about buying a CD204 Locke she had got from her uncle while visiting her uncle in upstate New York. At the time she wanted like $1000 plus a couple purple insulators which was a really good deal for me. I however couldn’t afford it at the time as we had just bought a house, I was in a new job, we had just moved across the country, etc etc. Since then she had changed her email address and phone and I cannot find her. I held it in my hand and it was a beauty in great condition. Maybe someday I’ll run into her and get another shot at it.
I’ll let u know when check #1 arrives.

Not to likely to get to Canada anytime soon at the moment. They won’t even let me across the border now! Soon enough, we can hope to get out from under this mess. Sigh.
By the way — my daughter is putting the check in the mail this afternoon when she goes to gymnastics. So however long it takes to make the journey, and you should have check number one in hand.

I found two of them together at a flea market in New Brunswick. The seller was from Cape Breton and said he had picked them up somewhere locally there.
I have since called that picker to see if he had anymore as he had more insulators at home but those were the only two.
I know another one came out of Cape Breton. Another long-time collector told me he picked one up in New York state, and that one had been bought out of Cape Breton.
It leads me to believe there was a line there somewhere on the island that used them. I have a couple pickers down that way that look for me and neither of them have ever turned any up.
Your trip on the gravel road sounds like a fun time haha. We were down at a friends cottage down there a number of years ago and my wife and my buddies wife went to out to find this bakery and followed what the GPS told them and ended up on some back logging road somewhere and barely made it through in our car at the time.
If you are ever up in Nova Scotia again let me know you are coming up and you are welcome to stop by. Not many collectors in Nova Scotia so I love any chance I get to have a fellow collector over to talk glass.

PS I wanted to mention that I repacked the CD243 last night in an even more secure box and I gotta say the pics of the damage on the front don't look nearly as bad in person. I think you will be pleased with it.

A check is ready to go -- just have to get to the post office. Lately that's a more infrequent thing, but it will be in the mail shortly. With more to follow, likely at monthly intervals. I do my bills at the end of the month, and might as well just roll this right in with those.
You said this came out of Cape Breton Island, NS (along with a couple others). Any idea how they were found? In use, antique store, from a lineman, whatever?
I love Cape Breton -- one of the vacations my wife and I took, we went on the motorcycle from home up to Maine, through New Brunswick, through Nova Scotia (had to stop at the Bay of Fundy), on to PEI, Nova Scotia, and all around the Cabot Trail. That was lovely -- we were on shore watching whales breach down below. Though, it also was THE worst -- came around a corner on a 45mph road and there was a sign saying gravel. They didn't mention it was loose gravel about 15cm deep. I kicked my wife off the back and made her walk. Took forever for me to get through the 5k or so, plowing up gravel the whole way and hoping I didn't fall over. Hmph. But then onto the ferry and to Newfoundland where we went all over. Was a really fun trip and we would love to do parts of it again, especially Cape Breton. Of course, that was our last vacation prior to the arrival of kids, so we didn't travel for a fair while after that. Didn't pick up any insulators, either, and certainly nothing like a 243! Sigh.

My CD collection is at a point where I very rarely add anything. I originally started on the integral CDs between 100 and 342. I'm at the point where I only need a couple handfuls of them. A number of years ago, the Corrieros made me a bunch of the ones I'm missing, in wood -- Combination Safety, Mushroom, CD 111, 148, 207, 250, 174, 243, 244 -- that type of thing. This will be the very first of those wood placeholders I get to replace with the real deal, and it will sit right next to its 241 and 242 siblings.
Gotta say I'm sort of psyched.
Thanks for doing a lay-a-way. Definitely helps me get my hands on a piece I've wanted for ages. Heh -- I haven't updated my want list in a while -- looks like 2015.

I am fine with some sort of payment plan. Here are my thoughts.
If you could pay 10% now ($150) to hold the piece and I’d give you 6 months to pay the piece in full. Upon full payment I’ll ship it to you. If after 6 months you decide not to want the piece or can’t afford it, I’d keep the 10%. You can make small payments in between if you like or however you would need/want to make it happen.
Does that sound fair? Take a day to think it over if you like and to ask around about me if you like. The history on this piece is it came out of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. As far as I know at least 2 other examples originated from there.

I am interested, but I also have to say that it's not a good time for me to be shelling out large chunks of cash, either. I know a series of payments over time isn't likely to be your favorite idea (I'm not sure we've ever met? I'm miserable with names, and couldn't find a pic of you on ICON!), but that seems like the most likely way I'd be able to deal with it. Unless I just save my money and you still have it available when I could pay at one shot! Mind you -- I'm not talking a great length of time, either. Not more than 6 months, hopefully more like 3. I'd have to see what exactly I could get away with.
So -- no expectation on my part as to what you would be willing to do, no hard feelings if you don't like the idea. But nothing ventured, nothing put on the shelf, so to speak!
