Story
ITEM No.: 22 CD No.: 134 EMBOSSING: (f) P [in a diamond] (b) Pat Aug 11 85 COLOR: Blue aqua. CONDITION: A couple of small minor flakes and pecks. One thin fingernail surface flake just below the rear "85" embossing. SUMMARY: Although not substantiated, the P within the diamond is likely a reference to "Pennycuick". James Pennycuick patented a method of forming threads in an insulator while leaving the plunger in place during the annealing process. The date of his patent is embossed on the rear of all CD 134 Diamond P insulators. All Diamond P insulators are particularly popular with collectors. Obviously, the more exotic colors can be a bit pricey, reaching values in upward of $10,000. This aqua Diamond P is the perfect choice if you are looking to add a fine example of this embossing to your collection. Should you desire to own a pair, the green example also offered in this auction (Item 24), will make a perfect contrasting companion [see View 2 for a comparison of this item next to the green example, Item 24, also offered separately in this auction]. ESTIMATE: $550 - $650 RESERVE: $450 PRICE REALIZED: $495
