Go to the insulator glossary page:
http://www.insulators.info/general/glossary/#C
where you will find:
CREB
Abbreviation used by some collectors for CRown Embossed Brookfield.
See also: crown

My friend Mike Doyle - normally a fountain of good information - has made two slight errors (you reached the 2-mistake limit for this month Mike!) :^)

Note he left off the word name Brookfield.

The term CREB came about as a term because of my being too lazy to type out "CRown Embossed Brookfield" (note the caps dictate the letters in the acronym 'CREB') as many times as I was finding myself in need to reference these pieces in my notes during the (ongoing) CREB Research Project (also not an official name by me - this was either Chris Sistrunk or Chris Renaudo who came up with this name - BTW - will one of you guys email me and remind me which of the two of you it was?). Chris Sistrunk is the one who came up with the logo Chris Renaudo and I have on shirts -- "Got CREB's?" Chris Sistrunk is also the originator of the term CREBhead (anyone who specializes in or takes a shine to CREB's). He recently coined the term 'bareback CREB" (which I thought was an appropriate one) for embossing indices which have no rear crown embossing. Note these all are terms (and an acronym) that reduce the number of keystrokes! IF I WAS a typist who actually possesses proper skills, then I probably would not "need" the term CREB, would not have made it, and not 'got the ball rolling'. I have my own typing system which allows me to types very quickly - but alas - I STILL look at the keys!

BTW - please also not the term CREB does not correspond to only one CD. It is a generic term as there are many CD's with Brookfield crown embossing.

My personality type is too phlegmatic to give myself a nickname. I did not come up with the "King CREB" moniker. This came from Jill Meier at the 2002 Mid Ohio show. As I remember it, Jill came up to Tammy and I, with a smile on her face and jokingly asked me, "Since you are associated now with these pieces, does this make you the King CREB?" I took this as a reference to a crustacean at the time - but the name stuck with other CREBheads! The nickname was thereafter engraved on an NIA name tag plate and presented to me one day as a surprise from my wife. So my other moniker, the Pea Soup Man (given to me by Chris Caverly - due to another story involving my finding a number of pea soup green CD145 HPET's (OK - OK - I'll type it out!) (F-skirt) H.G.CO. (R-skirt) PETTICOAT beehives) -- also on a name tag plate and still my ebay name (CD145peasoupman) -- was replaced.

Another acronym I personally use on a regular basis (as I have witnessed other CREBheads doing) is SKEB. This acronym was coined, as the next logical step to CREB, by Charles Bibb. It stands for "SKirt Embossed Brookfields." After all, don't we all like shortcuts when talking about our hobby full of Consolodated Design-numbered insulators?

Happy collecting!

Lee
