The McDougalds' 2003 Glass Insulators Price Guide says the only known embossing is California. Average size is 3.625 inch length, 2.75 inch base diameter.

 

Brian Riecker's site includes photos of a Sage Green California CD 1131 and a Purple California CD 1131.

The NIA's Glass Strain Insulators page says "Although all relatively uncommon, there are a variety of glass strain insulators available. These were typically used to insulate a telephone or power pole guy wire from ground."

Pyrex's Plain Facts About Insulators brochure, available at the Peninsulators site, says "Because of pressing limitations, some shapes -- guy strain insulators, for example -- are difficult to make at all."
